Whilst out and about its amazing some of the things you see. Men and women of all different ages running like the devil was after them. Now I applaud their desire to get fit but in many cases the most likely outcome is injury.
Many of these people are middle aged and a good bit overweight some even obese. It makes me shudder to think of the damage the regular pounding on an unyielding surface is going to do to their joints. But even worse than that their lack of any type of stability including poor, pelvic, knee and ankle could easily cause them to injure themselves.
They could stumble and not have the strength or stability to recover causing them to fall.
I’m not saying that running is bad it’s just that running in poor physical shape is a recipe for injury.
Before anyone attempts to start jogging they should get professional advice. I’d recommend employing a personal trainer to assess your current fitness levels and design a fitness regime appropriate to you.
Most people need to increase their strength and fitness levels before they attempt any running at all. If you haven’t got the money to employ a personal trainer then at least consider some of the low impact options such as a treadmill, cross trainer or maybe even a KettleWorx Workout.
We haven’t even discussed some of the other problems you may get from excessive running such as shin splints but we’ll leave that for another article.
