Power Plate Vibration Machines – Joke Or Reality?

by Julia on January 5, 2010

According to the latest research conducted in Europe scientists have found some evidence that using vibration machines on a regular basis can help with weight loss. Now I’ve always been suspicious of these types of machines on the basis that it just sounds to good to be true. Jump on, switch it on and jiggle your way to a sexy body. Hmm where have I heard that before?

The reasearchers found that those who used the vibration machines in combination with a calorie controlled diet did better weight loss wise than those controlling calories and exercising with traditional cardio training methods.

Now I’ve never been a great believer in cardio only exercise programs  anyway. Without a strength training element to build muscle and burn fat most exercise programs are doomed to fail or are mostly ineffective for long term and sustained fat loss anyway.

Should you rush out and buy a Power Plate then? Well if you have the money why not, just don’t rely on it alone – combine it with cardio and strength training and who knows you may have a winning combination.

I can’t remember who said it but “You don’t get anything for nothing” if fat loss was as easy as standing on a plate and reading a book then the weight loss industry would be out of business and I don’t see any sign of that happening just yet, do you? Why not stick with methods known to work like the Firm Wave or Kettleworx?
